Most teams grow incrementally. People get added one person at a time. The organization adapts organically to the new person, and is ready for further growth.

This model works, but it often breaks down at critical moments:

* when the team has been growing organically for too long and no clear expectations were set on responsibilities;
* when the processes and communication lines are not clear to everybody;
* when the team grows fast – too fast for the organization to organically adapt;
* when the team needs to grow fast, but is hindered by unclear processes and responsibilities.
